Everyone who is successful in the world, must have experience of failure and it can be repeated many times so that it makes you stressed, frustrated, discouraged, helpless and sometimes you can lose your way. Have you ever experienced failure? What do you do when you experience failure? What comes to your mind when you it happens?
I never consider failure to be the end of a struggle, I trust and believe that failure doesn’t mean that you cannot do it but failure is an opportunity for yourself to do better, God will fail you because God believes in you if you can be far from it. So, when you fail to achieve your dreams, never give up. Embed it in yourself when you fail, it means you are in the process of upgrading yourself to a higher level and don’t forget to try getting your dreams back. The success is achieved by successful people in the world also started from a failure they have experienced
When I was in Senior High School, I participated in an environmental ambassador selection activity, I really wanted to win the activity. However, fate said otherwise, I only entered the semifinals. The thing that made me fail was during the question and answer process in English, with the limited English skill I had at that time, I had to fail to proceed to the final because I couldn’t understand and answer the question. Even though the answers may use mixed language, I just didn’t understand the questions, letting alone answer it. After that failure, I continued to study in English language for developing my english. Realized that in the future, international languages will be important to master.
Before getting my dream campus at Gadjah Mada University, I also failed to get a scholarship to support my current studies and was also rejected by UGM. But that failure didn’t discourage me, I backed trying with my best version and most importantly never get tired learning and evolving myself.
When I entered Gadjah Mada University, I started looking for places where I could learn to improve my English. International Language Center (ILC), ILC is a Gadjah Mada University graduate student association that focuses on international languages. Not only English, there are many other languages that can be studied together there. Departing from my desire to learn English more comprehensively and according to my needs, I interested joining this organization. I’ll tell you a story before I registered and joined, at first I thought I would be taught a lot and given lessons related to language here. In fact, I was wrong. At ILC I wasn’t taught and treated to materials but I was invited to learn from each other, to realize each other’s expectations, because the key at ILC is “not about giving and taking but about giving and taking together”. One sentence that keeps ringing in my ears and makes me feel comfortable and happy at ILC is “lets learn and lets grow together”. I have high hopes that when I join I will get my wish to speak fluently in English, write well, and read fastly to English texts, I hope I can realize it soon.-Farina Islami, Education Departmen, ILC HMP-UGM
